Party season isn’t long around the corner, and to make sure you’re well prepared, we’ve got a host of awesome wine tasting masterclasses and celebrity cooking demo’s for you to grab this week, but the fun doesn’t stop there.
Us Grabsters love a party, so we decided to use our party throwing expertise (we’re not sure if we quite qualify as experts but we’ll give it a go) to make a short, little guide to entertaining, so you can make sure you’ve got every little detail covered.
Food
Don’t treat your guests to the type of stuff you’d find at a kids or college party, give them a taste of glorious gourmet. We’re big fans of mini-burgers and spring rolls. Don’t forget to cater for the vegetarians, coeliacs and pickiacs also (thats our name for really fussy annoying eaters, in case you didn’t already know).
Refreshments
You’ll need to keep your guests well hydrated, in between all that talking and dancing they’ll be doing. They could be a really thirsty bunch so make sure you’ve got a plentiful supply in the ‘cellar’, if you know what we mean. Don’t let the designated drivers feel left out though, make sure to stock up on non alcoholic beer and wine, so that they don’t end up drinking fruit juice and water all night.
Entertainment
Depending on what kind of a party it is, and who you’ve invited, you should think about making a quick playlist on your iPod. If it’s a sophisticated dinner party for a few of your closest friends to socialise, keep the music relatively low and slow because otherwise it’ll become somewhat of a screaming match between you and Whitney Heuston. If you want to get everyone moving and shaking, you can mix it up with some songs of a faster nature. (P.S. Just because you’re Michael Buble’s biggest fan, doesn’t mean your guests will be also ,so make sure you’ve got a good selection on hand.) Party games like Jenga or Charades will also go down well with people of any age.
Venue
Most of you will probably be entertaining at home, but that doesn’t mean the venue is of any less significance. If anything, it makes it even more important because you’ll have to make sure you’ve got somewhere to store everyone’s coats, there’ll be enough seats at the table for your lush dinner party, the kids toys are tidied away for your adults only wine tasting night, and that you’ve got enough glasses and cutlery so no one gets left out. After that we think you’re good to go!
Don’t forget that just because you’re the one throwing the party, you’re also allowed to have some fun. Don’t spend the night hiding away in the kitchen, fretting over every minute detail. It’s the people that make a party, and you deserve to be out there in the middle of it!
